Our story

Started by a caregiver, for families who are carrying a lot.

Samantha Trotman Burman spent her early career in private equity, joining Bain Capital as its first female investment professional and later becoming a partner at Parthenon Capital. She holds undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Cambridge in the UK and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School. She stepped away to raise four children, and spent years struggling to meet her own family’s mental and physical health needs.

That experience led her to found Isleworth, a structured peer advisory model for families making high-stakes decisions, and then StoryCatch Partners: to give families support where they need it most, and to make sure what they learn along the way helps others.

In 2024, StoryCatch acquired EmpiraMed, a Massachusetts-based clinical research and real-world evidence company specializing in virtual clinical studies and longitudinal patient data collection, which became StoryCatch Insights in 2025. Together they bring empathy and evidence under one roof.

“Mental and physical health are connected in ways we are only beginning to understand.”

What PBC means

Experience · Empathy · Evidence

PBC stands for public benefit corporation. We are organized this way, so we are accountable for our impact on families and communities, not only for our returns.

  • Experience. What families live through is where we start.
  • Empathy. Support comes first, and no one should carry it alone.
  • Evidence. With consent, what they share shows what works.
